Obituary for Barry Dohms

Barry Ralph Dohms passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 24, 2022, after his yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old.

Barry’s legacy will last far beyond his life. He was a faithful husband, committed father, loving grandfather, brother, and friend. Born and raised in Melville, Saskatchewan, Barry was a lifelong learner with endless curiosity. He had a Bachelor of Science from University of Saskatchewan and an MBA from University of Calgary. And became a Quantum Shift Fellow from Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

As the consummate “car guy,” Barry pursued his passion as a former senior executive with several of car brands. His entrepreneurial mindset led him to become the owner and president of a group of auto dealerships and and leasing companies. He also served on the boards of several business organizations, college faculties and charities.

Barry will be remembered for his humility, integrity, and steadfastness. He was a people focused leader who whole-heartedly believed in people’s potential. He was quick to listen, give a hug, or jovial laugh.

Barry will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Annie, his children with their families, Matthew (Brooke, Bentley, Maeva), Jeremiah (Courteney) and Jennah (Joel Hansen) and his siblings Dale (Virginia) and Carol (Wayne Siddall).
