Barry Bruce Gonder, of Walkerton, passed away at home, on Thursday, January 7, 2021 surrounded by his family, in his 69th year after a courageous battle with cancer.

Predeceased by the love of his life Joanne (nee Plante). Loving father of Kathy (Mike) Hehn of Riversdale, Barney Hurlbut (Sheryl) of Teeswater, Christa (Reg) Jantzen of Walkerton. Cherished Grampa of Jeff (Jamie), Jeremy (Mary), Pamela (Dave), John Curtis Hurlbut and Celeste and great Grampa of six. Dear brother of Darlene Gonder of Stratford.

Barry spent many years as a long haul truck driver until he retired. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his family. A kind, thoughtful, loving man, always willing to lend a hand, he will be missed by many other family and friends.

Private family graveside service will be held at Walkerton Cemetery.

As expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family. Cards available at Cameron’s (519-881-1273). Donations and condolences may be made online at

Many memories I've had with Barry, usually at my best friends place (Christa, Reg and Celeste's). Having dinner together with all them. The conversations and laughter we would have. Barry always asking me when I was moving closer to Christa so I wouldn't have to drive so far. Then the memories playing games with Barry and Celeste. One particular game Pie in the Face. Oh the giggles we had. The most recent memory, sharing ice cream fudgesicles just several weeks ago.
Forever in my heart Barry. I promise I will give Celeste as much ice cream as wants. 😉

I knew Barry for over 40 years. He was, indeed; a kind, loving and caring man. We were neighbours and from the day he moved from our building he has been missed by all of us. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to his entire family. He and Joanne are together again!
