Obituary for Cathy Vasey
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Marie Vasey (nee Schmidt), at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Friday, October 23, 2020. Cathy was 67.
She was born on October 3, 1953 in Walkerton to the late Leonard and Helen (nee Lambertus) Schmidt.
Cathy lived a selfless life, devoted to her family, friends, and community. She was a generous and caring woman who left a lasting and loving impression on those fortunate to know her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cottaging in Sauble Beach. Cathy will be remembered forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Survived by her children, Stephen (Mal) Ellis of Burlington, Rebecca (Ryan Sills) Ellis of London, Marc Ellis of Toronto, Susan (Chris) Kuntz of Walkerton, Jacqueline (Thomas) Di Fonzo of Walkerton, and Joe (Jennifer) Vasey of Walkerton.
Predeceased by her loving husband, George Vasey (2013) and her stepson David Vasey of Toronto (2019). Loving sister of Mary Anne (Jason) Schmidt-Shoukri of Oakville, Peter (Janice) Schmidt of Kitchener, and pre-deceased by her sister Margaret Schmidt. Cherished Grandmother of Nyah, Zoey, Aidan, Keagan, Addison, Asher, Kobie, Mila, Gabrielle, Georgia and Lilly.
Family and friends will be received at the Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends are invited to respond online via RSVP for public visitation on Cathy’s memorial page . Social distancing and mandatory masks due to Covid 19 restrictions.
A private family Mass of Catholic Burial will be held with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton.
