Obituary for Diane Rys

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4

After a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, Diane passed away Saturday, September 24th, 2022, at the age of 80, with her family by her side.

Diane was the most loving and supportive wife of 58 years to Joe, caring mother to Susan (Rob) Lewis of Ottawa, Cathy (Dave) Spitzig of Walkerton, Stephanie (Ron) Sanko of Belle River and Michael (Carrie) Rys of Collingwood. Diane held a special place in her heart for each of her 9 grandchildren: Zachary (Emily), Benjamin (Emily), Luke (Jenna), Jaclyn (Austin), Marc (Jessica), Jake (Victoria), Jack (Amanda), Avery and Mason.
Diane cherished the beautiful relationship she had with her only sister Gail of Kitchener; they were not only sisters, but best friends. She played a nurturing role to her brother Ronnie Nichols of Sombra. Diane will be missed by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, and uncles, with whom she always maintained close relationships.

She was predeceased by her parents Rose and John Nichols and her brother John.

Diane was born and raised in Guelph Ontario, after losing her mother at a young age she became the mother figure to her younger siblings, to whom she was eternally dedicated. Her desire to care for others led her to a career as a Registered Nurse where she practiced for many years, in Guelph, Kitchener, and later finishing her career in Walkerton.

Over the past number of years Diane faced many health challenges, however, without complaint, she dealt with each obstacle with a positive attitude, and the belief that God would grant her the strength to get through.

Diane had a strong faith and played an active role in her Church community over the years and was an extremely active community volunteer for many local organizations. She loved to cook and could often be found in her kitchen cooking a meal for someone in need or dropping off her famous chocolate chip cookies just because…

Diane will be missed by so many as she was always there to offer comfort and support, but we know she is dancing with the angels looking down from HEAVEN!

We will miss you FOREVER!
