Obituary for Florence Lambertus

Florence Marie (Baechler) Lambertus passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton. Dearly missed by sister Irene Heipel, many nieces and nephews, special caregivers, friends and neighbours.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Lorne Lambertus, brother Henry Baechler, sister-in-law Kathleen Baechler, brother-in-law Earl Heipel, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rita and Lionel Barker, Gordon and Ruth Ashley, Harvey Lambertus and dear friend Stella Hoffarth.

Born April 15, 1931, to Cecilia (Hehn) and Jessie Baechler in Greenock.

Florence was a strong, hardworking, independent, generous woman. She had a great love of birds and animals, especially her kitties. Because of lack of teachers, Florence was chosen from her senior high school class to have accelerated teacher training. She became a teacher at an early age and taught school for many years in the Ernewein school, between Walkerton and Dunkeld, and other schools in the Walkerton area. She also farmed with her husband Lorne for many years. In her retirement, she was a bus driver who delivered children in all kinds of weather. She was passionate about her vegetable garden and worked hours on end. She produced a bountiful harvest which she gladly shared with family, friends and neighbours. She also loved to travel and often spoke of her annual trip to the CNE with her dear friend Stella.

Friends and relatives are invited for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel officiating.

Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or to Brucelea Haven would be appreciated by the family.
