Obituary for Francis "Frank" Dales

Francis ‘Frank’ Joseph Dales of Cargill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Elgin Abbey, Chesley, in his 91st year. A life well lived as a generous and devoted family man, farmer, and long-suffering true blue Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Bruce County was and will forever remain his home; Frank took great pride in being a part of this community. In addition to his career of over 30 years as an ironworker – contributing to the construction of Douglas Point in the early 60’s – Frank remained dedicated to his loves; farming, his family, and his beloved wife Norma who had predeceased him. Survived his children Julie (Dan) Bester of Orillia, Monica Sorensen of Walkerton, and Tom (Donna) of Cargill. He was the proud grandpa of Lindsay, Amanda (Nathan), Andrew (Lindsay), Eric (Caitlin), Scott (Stephanie), Leanne (Nathan), Adam (Natasha), Allan (Alissa), Brandon, and great grandpa of Felicia, Stella, Nora, Evan, Collin, Grace, Briar, Casey, Linden, and Annabelle. Frank will be missed by his sisters Justina Slocombe of Guelph, Moria O’Donoghue of Teeswater, Sheila De Gannes of Schomberg, sisters-in-law Mary Dales and Anne Dales both of Walkerton. Frank is predeceased by his brothers Peter (in-infancy), William, Paul, John, brothers-in-law Dr. Owen Slocombe, Myles O’Donoghue, Dr. Rolph De Gannes, and his parents Jack and Grace (nee O’Malley) Dales. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Chepstow. Families, neighbours & friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for both Frank and Norma at The Chepstow Lions Park.  The gathering will be held on Saturday May 6, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with stories and laughs being shared at 1.30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Cargill Community Fund or Saugeen Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
