Obituary for Grace Macpherson

Grace Hughena Macpherson (nee Ferris), born April 1, 1935, passed away peacefully at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the age of 86. Grace was predeceased in 2019 by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years Bruce Alexander Macpherson.

Grace will be forever remembered by her children Neil (Glenda Webster), Jessie (Paul) Callaghan, Marnie (Allan) Beitz, and Christie (Dwayne) Patterson. She was the loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sister Velma Hendry, sister-in-law Grace L. McPherson and brothers-in-law Harry Ruetz, Norman Campbell and Mervyn Catto.

She was also predeceased by her son Alexander (Sandy) Ferris Macpherson, grandson Wesley Alexander Beitz, parents John Wesley and Abby Louise (Symon) Ferris, brother Warrant Officer (Johnston) Sherman Ferris, sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Burton Shewfelt, and brother-in-law Kenneth Hendry; as well as by Bruce’s family Alexander and Pearl (Vance), Stuart, Eva (Grant) Begg, Eoin, Catherine (Kay) Currie-Ruetz (Elgin Currie), Angus (Helen), Jean Campbell, and Marguerite Catto.

Grace was a teacher, an avid reader, a poet, a quilter, and a collector of many things. She was much more than an amateur genealogist and was our treasured family historian. In her honour, we are also sharing the names of her grandparents: Joseph Perman Ferris & Barbara Rae Johnston, Anthony Mason Symon & Mary Louise Caskanette.

Visitation will be held on the Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. You may register to attend on the RSVP option of Grace’s memorial page (beneath the obituary) at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com.

There will be a private family interment at Purdy Cemetery, Brockton.
