Obituary for Jerome Schurter

Jerome Albert Schurter, of Chepstow, passed away peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, on Thursday, March 26, 2020. He was 78 years old. He will be sadly missed by his brother and lifelong organic farming partner, Wilbert, his brothers, Elmer & Gerry Schurter, and his sisters; Eleanor Turchyn, Doreen Perry, and Helen Hesch.

Predeceased by his brothers Walter, Clarence, Brother Ray and Father Norm and by his sister Marguerite Schurter, and his parents, Alex and Elenora (nee Sadlo).

Jerome was a lifelong farmer, avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Chepstow Lions Club and the Monsignor Zettler Chepstow - Cargill Knights of Columbus. Jerome’s dedication to the Catholic faith was evident to all who knew him. His fervent love of Jesus inspired many people who admired his simplicity and humility, his advocacy for the protection of the unborn and his devotion to prayer.

A private interment will be held at Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Chepstow.

A memorial mass at Mary Immaculate Church, Chepstow, celebrating Jerome’s life and faith, followed by a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
