Obituary for Kenneth Rae
Kenneth Rae of Walkerton passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, after a long illness, under the excellent care of Trilium Court, Kincardine. Beloved partner of the late Coba (Jackie) De Jong (nee Jagt) for 42 years. He will be deeply missed by his four children Wayne De Jong, Jackie Texeira, Denise De Jong, and Robert (Sherine Misener) De Jong, and as a fun and quirky Opa to Thomas (Nicole), Robert De Jong, Stephanie Oldfield, Kira, Dylan, and Paige Teixeira. Ken will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law Janet and Alex VanNiekerk, Albert and Willeke Jagt, and Teresa and Dirk Dekker.
Ken was also predeceased his brother Art, and parents Thelma and Arthur Rae.
Originally of Owen Sound, Ken's career as a truck driver took him all over North America, and he later brought his partner Coba on many more excursions across the continent atop his motorcycle or in their camper. After his retirement, he enjoyed many years on their farm at RR2 Auburn, taking to country life with its large breakfasts and space for infinite tinkering. Ken was a man of many coloured stories, tales of the road and humourous antics. He loved the great outdoors, particularly to fish, camp, and sit in the sunshine with some country music. As his illness progressed, he never lost his cheekiness or the twinkle in his eye.
Ken's sense of humour and joie de vivre will be missed by all.
Cremation has taken place and interment in Bethesda Community Cemetery, Moorefield.
