Obituary for Mary Donelda Vallee (Schmidt)

Mary Vallee of Chepstow, passed away peacefully after her long battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at Chapman House Hospice, Owen Sound on January 15, 2020 at the age of 69.

Born in Walkerton on November 4, 1950 to the late Joseph and Stella (nee Folmer) Schmidt of Chepstow. Mary was a kind and generous person, who would do anything for others. She was a devoted CWL member for over 40 years. Mary enjoyed sports and was an avid ball player. Mary helped her husband John run their family business for over 40 years. She enjoyed shopping and loved a deal.

Loving wife of John Vallee of Chepstow. Mother to Derrick (Christina) Vallee of Goderich, Jeremy (Alison) Vallee of Chesley and Kimberley Vallee of London. Beloved grandmother to Rowyn, Bristol, Maelle, and Emerson. Dear sister-in-law to Joan Schmidt of Chepstow, Marilyn Schmidt of Ayr, Dan (Anne) Schmidt of Brampton, Gwen Fritz of Chepstow, Janice Weber (Stewart Mitchell) of Bracebridge, Kate Schmidt of Holyrood, Bill (Colleen) Schmidt of Walkerton as well as in-laws, Francoise Vallee of Tiverton, Pat (Theresa) Vallee of Kincardine, Ginette Kirkconnell of Kincardine and Marcel Prevost. She will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Stella Schmidt; brothers Jerry Schmidt, Joe Schmidt, and Mike Schmidt; sister Sharon Eckensweiler and in-laws George Vallee, Jim Eckensweiler, Elroy Weber, Peter Fritz, Sue Prevost, and Shirley Vallee.

Visitation will be held at Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with CWL Service at 1:45 p.m. and parish prayers at 3:45 p.m.

Funeral Mass to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at Mary Immaculate Church, Chepstow on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Luc Payette officiating.

Cremation has taken place. Interment in Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Chepstow will take place at a later date.
