Obituary for Rita Theresa Finch (Hoffarth)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful soul, and a remarkable woman; Rita Theresa Finch (nee Hoffarth) at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Rita was 90. Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Finch (2010). Loving mother of Judy (Jim) Patenall, the late Donald (2015), the late Donna (in infancy) and Richard (Jennifer Phenix) Finch. Proud and cherished Granny of Jamie (Deanne) Patenall, Kelly (Mark) Lee, Patrick (Jennifer) Finch, Michael (Laura MacDiarmed) Finch, Gregory (Amanda Hewson) Finch, and Danielle (James) Cameron. Cherished Great-Granny & GGMA of Madeline and Thomas Patenall, Eric, Owen and Hannah Lee, Abegail and William Finch, Rya and Theo Finch, and Jack Cameron. Rita was anxiously awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Annie Finch, her siblings Ron (Marg Staley) Beilstein, Wayne (Bernice) Beilstein, Jackey Goodwin and Dian Smith, as well as her extended family and friends.

A long serving employee of the University of Waterloo, Rita was a much loved member of the Food Services staff until her retirement in 1987. Her tenure at U of W dates back to the time when the campus was comprised of a small collection of portables on University Avenue. She developed and maintained life-long friendships with many of her colleagues.

Rita is predeceased by her parents Sylvia (nee Lorentz) and Anthony Hoffarth, step-father William Beilstein and her siblings Helen Smith, Patti Hilts and Tyra Grant.

Rita’s family invites friends and relatives to join us for a celebration of her wonderful life at The Dedication Centre at Williamsburg Cemetery (1541 Fischer Hallman Rd. Kitchener) on Thursday, November 1, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow.

Cremation and interment in Williamsburg Cemetery have taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hospice Wellington, Guelph, would be appreciated by the family. Cards available at the funeral home (519-881-1273). Donations and condolences may also be made online at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com
