Obituary for Ronald Elwood Fisk

Ronald Elwood Fisk passed away peacefully in the presence of close friends at Chapman House Hospice, Owen Sound, on June 13, 2020. He was 73.
He was predeceased by his parents Elwood and Edith Fisk and brother Bob.

Ron, a Walkerton native, spent his early years attending local schools and graduated from Walkerton District Secondary School in 1965. It was during these formative years that Ron began honing the musical skills that saw him become a multi-talented musician. Studying under the ever watchful eyes and guidance of well known piano teacher Elizabeth O’Connor, Ron spent the ensuing years forging his way to eventual certification from the Royal Conservatory Of Music in Toronto. During those years he gave pleasure to countless people at recitals, concerts and public events with his music. His professional career took him down many paths. In addition to performing as an accomplished pianist, organist and flautist he also gave lessons in those instruments, coached voice and conducted choirs. He was often guest organist at churches in the Bruce-Grey area. Over the years Ron mentored many aspiring musicians who went on to accomplishments of their own. In time Ron added “Court Reporter” to his resume and enjoyed the additional challenges that occupation provided.
Ron’s musical gifts touched many lives and he leaves behind a life well lived and talents not wasted. A kind and generous man, he will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Residential Hospice of Grey-Bruce directed to either Chapman House in Owen Sound, or South Hospice, Walkerton, would be greatly appreciated. Cards available at the funeral home (519-881-1273) Donations and condolences may also be made online at

Rosemary Phillips

Dear Ron, I haven't been in touch for many years but have though of you so often for you had been a special part of my life, in Lansdowne, 40 years ago. I was recalling the special concert we did in Escott School that year and how you wowed everyone with your performance, in tux, at the old stand-up piano, lit by a beautiful candelabra. While searching for you I found you have now left the Planet, and have become another glowing star in the Heavens. I am left in grief, regretting not being in touch, and yet filled with such joyful memories of your caring, your love as a friend for this rather eccentric artist, also trying to make a living in a rural hamlet.
I send my love to your friends who were with you at your transition. You have certainly left a hole on this fair planet, but heaven is a brighter place with you in it. I guess if we communicate now it will be without a telephone and computer! Lots of love - Rosemary - now residing in British Columbia.

Ron: What I remember most from our brief email exchanges in 2018 is that I sent you one of my favourite pipe organ pieces. You seemed to be favourably impressed by it, so I dedicate it to you in remembrance, along with my admiration for your bravery and will to slog on, in spite of the terrible physical damage you sustained from the horrendous Walkerton water crisis. Here's to you Ron:

Ron became a friend when I moved to Walkerton when we were in high school. As so often happens life intervenes and we sporadically crossed paths for many years. In the past decade we enjoyed a continuation of our friendship through visits in Walkerton and his visit to my home in Texas. He had a kind and gentle soul and now rests with our mutual friend, Janet.
In love and gratitude, Sharon L. Walker, PhD, RN.
