Obituary for Steve Coghlin

It is with great sadness that the family of Steven Ellwood Coghlin announce his passing on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving wife of 34 years, Kimberly (nee Chessell) and his caring son, Brandon, whom he loved so very much.

Steve was born November 18, 1965, in Listowel, ON. Steve and Kim were married August 27, 1988. Through the years, Steve enjoyed playing hockey, ball, golf, riding his bike and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family and friends, traveling and having fun.

Steve will be missed by his sister Barb (Dwayne) Dietrich, mother Lorraine Bristowe, stepfather Dennis Bristowe, and their children Bonnie (Scott) Vesterfelt and Jennifer McNulty. He will be remembered by sisters-in-law Wendy (Jim) Anderson, Joan (Brad) Smith, brother-in-law Paul (Sara) Lobsinger, his dear aunt Bev (Gary) White, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Steve was predeceased by his beloved father Ross Ellwood Coghlin, son George Steven Coghlin, grandmother Velma Bowman and his mother-in-law Joyce Chessell, who loved him like a son.

Kim and Brandon wish to extend a special thank you to many friends and neighbours for their caring help and support throughout Steve’s illness, and to Dr. Susan Batten, Dr. Paul McArthur, Dr. Sandhu, Dr. Glick, Dr. Raymond Jang, and his many nurses at VON and various hospitals he received care.

Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of Steve’s life from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Knights of Columbus Hall, Walkerton. A service with a time of reflection with Rev. Linda Ashfield will be held at 2:00 p.m. A livestream of the service will be available using the "Webcast" link below.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
