Alberta Marion Schmidt, formerly of Mildmay, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton on Saturday, August 18, 2012. She was 88.

Loving mother of Gary and his wife Carroll and dear grandmother of Jeremy all of Prince George, B.C. She will be missed by her sisters Gene Laing of Port Colbourne, Dorine and Robert Dick of Don Mills and her sister in-law Vi Schmidt of Owen Sound. Alberta will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Donna Smith, Dale and Joe de Bruyn, Valerie and Dale Hatch, Stuart and Brenda Laing, Scott and Andrea Laing, Liane Smith, Brian and Helayne Dick, Lisa and Rob Knight, Lynn and Alan Schmidt, Carolyn Baxter, Gordon and Marilyn McAuley as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Pre-deceased by her husband Jack, sister Phyllis (Bill) Laidlaw, sisters in-law Dorothy (Frank) McAuley, Francis Schmidt, brothers in-law Jerry and Walter Schmidt, her niece Irene Laidlaw, her nephew Leonard Schmidt and her parents Albert and Marion (nee Fitzsimmons) Elphick.

Visitation will be held at Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton, on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Mildmay. Rev. Terry Sehl officiating.

Interment in Douglas Hill Cemetery, Brant Township, Ontario.
